Paying an homage to the classic, Pride and Prejudice, this story begins in Seattle, Washington with Emma Lee. She's working as a line chef in a restaurant, hoping to open her own kitchen one day. When she tags along with a friend to a boat party for the elite, she happens to meet a modern Mr. Darcy, who also frustrates and challenges her beyond any other person she's ever met. She assumes that they'll never have to cross paths again, but it seems that fate has other ideas for the two of them. *** Will try and upload chapters at least once a week! If I have extra time, I'll try and do twice a week :)

A gender-bent Pride & Prejudice retelling, told by a female Darcy. After months of struggling at work following her father's death, Dacia García needs a break. Or rather, she's forced into one by her boss after a public meltdown and subsequent panic attack in front of company shareholders. Despite having zero interest in returning to Texas, she has no one but her college friends Chastity and Christian Barrera to turn to, who are temporarily residing in San Antonio for the summer. Dacia's ideal vacation is reading the days away and sulking about her problems in peace, but when Chastity falls head over heels for Jane Galindo, Dacia is roped into hanging out with Jane's family and friends week after week. That includes Marcus Galindo, Jane's charming younger brother who wants nothing to do with Dacia after overhearing a snarky comment made about his future profession in elementary education. Marcus and Dacia butt heads over everything, but there's something about him that keeps drawing her back to him. As time passes and they keep running into each other, they start spending time alone together and even begin to like one another. But their tenuous relationship threatens to implode when someone from Dacia's past throws her character into question. Marcus knows Dacia is keeping something from him, and its stopping him from falling for her the way she's already fallen for him. Dacia will have to learn to trust Marcus with the darkest truths of her heart if she doesn't want to lose him forever. But even that might not be enough to keep them together.
