Or discover that certain things might be forgiven with time, but leaves a scar too painful to forget? This story contains scenes where the main character refers to a past where she was forced to be a sex worker. I'd just been living in the Philippines and found something magical and beautiful there. Most of the names of people and locations originate from Filipino words in the Tagalog language. For example, Mahingga, the name of the of the island where the story starts, means "rest" in Tagalog. I wanted to the story to be funny and adventurous with a sense of wonder.
