When rising journalist, Kinsley Alcott, is sent on assignment to Arundel Castle for the Duke of Norfolk's coronation week, she quickly encounters and befriends the Duke-to-be.

Cain Evans-Porter is the natural-born heir to his deceased father's wealth and political responsibility. While following the guidance of his uncle, Cain begrudgingly awaits his coronation day, half-heartedly participating in the week's festivities-save for his budding friendship with one of the reporters.

When Kinsley stumbles in on a private conversation among a few of the parlimentary leaders, she learns of a plot that could alter the outcome of Cain's coronation entirely. The two must then uncover the rest of parliament's plot to rid Cain from his inherited estate and protect the future of Norfolk's dukedom.
