The elf struggles as I walk closer. It's not like I'm worried, there's no way he's getting past the restraints. His species isn't exactly known for their strength.

"Calm down." I speak while lightly touching his ear. He attempts to speak from behind the gag but is unable to. I thought elfs were supposed to be smart, he should know that he's not getting out of this. My superior comes shortly after with a scalpel in his hand and pierces the elf's ear, causing the young creature to scream and struggle harder.

I speak quietly, "Is this normal? None of the other elfs we have scream like this."

"The elfs I have shown you have been broken down for centuries. They barely feel pain anymore. This is one that we got 2 weeks ago, you should know how to deal with newcomers."
