Detailed Book 1 Outline: *Shattered*(working title)
**Act 1: The Collapse**
- Claire's life appears stable from the outside, but cracks are already forming in her marriage. Greg has grown distant, and Claire feels increasingly isolated.
- The hacking begins-small at first, but it quickly escalates. Private messages and photos are leaked, and Claire becomes the target of relentless online bullying.
- As she tries to cope, she perceives signs of Greg's affair. The potential betrayal shatters her already fragile sense of self, and Greg denies any involvement with anyone as well as her pain when confronted.
**Act 2: Spiraling**
- Claire's mental health deteriorates as the bullying and Greg's indifference leave her feeling utterly alone.
- Theresa remains a steady presence, encouraging Claire to seek help, but Claire resists, feeling ashamed and unworthy.
- A major incident-perhaps a confrontation with one of her online tormentors or a public humiliation-pushes Claire over the edge, and she admits herself to a mental health hospital.
**Act 3: Awakening**
- At the hospital, Claire begins the slow, painful process of confronting her emotions. She meets a fellow patient stuck in infidelity grief, which serves as a wake-up call for Claire.
- Through therapy and introspection, Claire realizes that she cannot define herself by Greg's betrayal or the opinions of others. She begins to focus on herself for the first time in years.
- The book ends with Claire leaving the hospital, a little stronger but still facing a world that feels hostile and overwhelming.
