Is it possible for an author to fall in love with her fictional character?

Hugo Atticus is a fictional character that can get every reader's attention. Started from his charismatic appearance, intelligent mind, and a bit of a cold but loving personality. He's the man that all girls can dream about. Too ideal, right? But as expected, a guy like him only exists inside the book.

Here's Pagella Formosus. An author of her own world can make a memory turn into a diary. The one who made Hugo using her mind and imagination.

Because of the tragic ending that she gave to her characters, she was punished by the book fairy, stuck by her own book with Hugo while having a number of days to change the ending.

Can she accomplish her mission or she'll just let herself live inside that book, forever?

Is it possible to live a life with a guy namely Hugo?

Without falling in love?
