Sometimes it's hard to give up old habits.

Former FBI consultant Conley Reed and ex-CIA agent Michael Vincent haven't worked together since The Accident and they don't ever intend to again. That changes when Conley uncovers a dangerous plot to blow up the United Nations Headquarters and call Michael in on the case.

Emotions flare, old memories are drudged up, and old feelings take on new meaning as Conley and Michael try to work together, just this one last time.

BROKEN VOWS (Lucas & Emilia Book 1) by ArianaClarkAuthor
31 parts Complete Mature
Choosing her cost me everything I'd ever loved... including her. It's why I left the small town where I grew up and vowed never to return. I'm no longer the "golden boy with a bright future" they all remember. Instead, I carry the scars of a tortured past. A broken man deemed unfit, even by the Navy SEALs he'd dedicated the past decade to serve. What was supposed to be a quick trip to sell my parents' property turned into this twisted journey that forced me to confront my demons. And then there she was. My first love, and deepest regret. The woman who still owns every piece of my blackened heart. When she asked for my time, I couldn't refuse. Now I can't walk away. Not after hearing of the danger her husband, a missing FBI agent, has brought to her doorstep. After everything, I owe her my help. It's why I offer to protect her and her two little girls from the danger circling them. It's a vow I never should have made, given the trail of bodies I've left in my wake. Like the harbinger of death, I'm the last man either of us should trust. In the Broken Redemption Series, one man's vow to protect the woman he lost becomes a battle between redemption, forgiveness, and the kind of love that refuses to let go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucas & Emilia's story begins here: Book 1 of their Broken Redemption arc. Each couple's love story in the Broken Redemption Series is told over multiple books and forms a complete arc within this collection of connected romances set in the small town of Ruby Creek. There's no required reading order, but if you'd like to start at the very beginning, you're right where you belong. Lucas & Emilia are the first couple, followed by James & Annelly, whose story begins with Broken Misery (Broken Redemption Series - Book 1 of their arc).

Guns, revenge and buildings to bomb, what could go wrong? ✮ He came in, gun held out in front of him in one hand while the other was resting on his hip where a sharp dagger gleamed in the light. "Come on out little girl, why not make this easier for both of us. The agency you ran away from just want to have a little talk, that's all." She scoffed internally. Yeah right. Then the footsteps ceased. She peeked to the right, then to the left. Neither direction showed any sign of the intruder. She looked up in front of her and gasped, the glint of steel and smell of death as overwhelming as it was adrenaline inducing, exciting. "Boo." ✮ Murder, accidents, assassinations. Call it what you will, it's all the same, all has the same life breaking, mind shattering consequences - be it for the victim or the bystander. It had shaped Alex in a way no one should be. Broken down and rebuilt into the perfect soldier, one who had the power to change the world, to fight battles that would either make or break the carefully constructed vision we all live in. The only small, minute, really unimportant detail - it's pretty hard to get into a government classified site when you're 15 years old and have a rag-tag team of double-crossing back-stabbers behind you. Not to mention the threat of a world war and ghost hanging above your head. Armed with sarcasm, wit, and a hell of a lot of aggressive intentions, it won't be too long till a sticky situation is all that's ahead of you. Sometimes, running head-first into a situation isn't the best idea. Instead, you gotta play a game. A deadly game where either you have all the pieces on the board, or you have nothing. [previously known as Espionage: double-cross] Thanks for reading :)

I clutched the gun to my chest. The blood on my hands, outfit and hair knotted with it. The body stared up at her, mocking her. I finished the job. But why did I feel so empty. The assignment was to kill the target, not everyone that I did. But they always said whatever it takes to get the job done. I killed people for a living. I was good at what I did... I enjoyed what I did. Memories were filling my mind too quickly to stop them so I just let them run their course. *** His weight disappeared from me and his hand grabbed the front of my leather jacket and yanked me to my feet. One of his hands were wrapped around me throat while the other was flicking a switch blade back and forth. I stared at it, flicking in and out addicted to the trance. I looked up as his voice interrupted me. "What am I going to with you Liza?" "I don't know brother. Why don't you tell me?" "Hmm," his fingers brushed my face. He was vulnerable; I stepped on his feet and watched as he yelped in pain. I reached for the gun on the mantle behind me. I cocked the gun, the safety clicked off. "Liza?" His voice was weak and frightened. "Please." He was always a good actor. His eyes were betraying his words. They were dark with vengeance and fury. His body lunged towards me. I pulled the trigger, hearing a noise echo in my ears. I dropped the gun on the ground. My feet slowly dragged my body over to Liam's body. His fair blonde hair was turning a darkish yellow red from the blood spilling from his lifeless body. Previously named: 'I'm Back, And Now I Have A Gun'
