What if Honghui arrived at the lake just in time to see Mulan and discovers that she is a woman.
P.S. I'm still a newbie at writing fanfics. Feedbacks are welcome. Nothing too harsh pls.
"Hey I have an idea for Mulan/Honghui: imagine a new context where Honghui is the first to discover Mulan's disguise and when they first discover their feelings for each other, I thought it'd be cool if they get together at that time so that in the uncertainty of life/death during war they'd have no regrets LOLOL. I really enjoyed your work so far though! :)"

[BOOK 3] *** - I ran as fast as I could, but had no more strength left. I felt heat and very bright light coming from behind me, but dared not turn around - I knew that if I did, I would go blind. But a loud voice called "Lao-Tzu!", and I couldn't carry on. I was so afraid for my baby... - tears were running down her cheeks now, and her voice was breaking. She felt a cold hand on hers, and knew that somehow, noiselessly, her Master Wen had approached her and was now holding her hand. She lowered her head and went on: - I fell to the ground and turned around, Masters. I saw very bright light and there was a creature there, and it looked all golden because of the golden light, but I saw it. Its body was like a dragon's, or a deer's, or a lion's... it had thousands of scales, but it might have been jewels... Its head was huge and it had antlers... Its mane was flowing upwards to the Heavens, and its eyes were like human eyes... I heard it come closer, I heard the sound of hooves, and its voice rang like the chime of thousand bells. It said: "Finally we meet, Lao-Tzu." She fell silent, weak and pale. Wen Ning took his hand away from hers and murmured: - The Qilin. *** Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji may have been married for over 20 years now, but this does not mean they are old. Life gets comfortable and boring, so to make things more exciting - they invite a young girl in their bedroom. Will she be able to keep up with them? Will their strong and intense love scare her away? *** This story might be viewed as separate fanfic, or a sequel to my previous story [WangXian 2: The Green-eyed Monster]. The content is most definitely mature 🔞 - there is a lot of fluff, and a lot of smut. I am using a couple of original characters too. I tried to give credit to all the fanart I am using, as much as I could, but still - a disclaimer: None of the art is mine, and I have zero claims on it. All credit goes to respective artists.🖤

What if A-Yuan and the Wen remnants did not stay hidden during the second siege of the Burial Mounds and caused Lan Qiren to have a change of heart and actually look at Wei Wuxian without all his preconceptions and judgment? What should have been just a one shot turned out into more just like that. Since I have found the story incomplete, I am continuing it with several more chapters.
