I start walking towards the old-yew, but a voice stops me in my tracks. 'Edric? Edric!' it says. It's my mother. She hugs me and I hug her back, treasuring this moment because I might not have the chance to see my beloved mother again. "Here" she says, pulling away. She hands me a grey ornament, and I hang the precious amulet around my neck, which wasn't hard to do considering the size of my armor, which covers only my chest and my back. She tells me that this will protect me, and doesn't know what she'll do without me. "I love you, son" she whispers with teary green eyes. I unsuccessfully try to smile because there's a waterfall trying to gush out of the dam called my eyes, but I don't let it. Instead, I honestly repeat to her the three powerful words.
