When Logan's friend and college roommate, Roman Prince, is thrust into a Penpal project that he won't shut up about, it takes Logan all he has to not strangle him if he has to listen to him squeal one more time. In order to not kill his friend, he's resulted in going down to a cafe near the college called Pattoncake's Cafe. Only when he got there and spent quite a bit of time at his booth did he realize that the cute boy at the counter was actually the owner of the establishment.

Logan swore to himself that he would not enter another relationship again. He wouldn't allow himself to get hurt like that again, wouldn't give anyone that kind of power. In order to keep your heart from getting broken, it's best to pretend you have no heart at all. But when Patton began to wiggle his way through the thick barriers Logan built up, it takes all he has to keep him shut out. But how much longer can his defenses last before the whole wall comes crumbling down?

*Completed* Virgil has never had it easy, not since he was kicked out of his home by his own father. He's struggled to survive, and has fought for food. He sees what should have been an easy meal, some berries on a tree hanging over the river. It should have been easy to get it, of course the stupid branch had to break and he was sent plummeting into the river. Roman loves to sneak away from his colony and his fae duties to head to the river, he's always wondered what is on the other side of it. Of course, he and everyone else in his colony is banned from crossing it. One day though, a stranger with no wings and a tail washes up on the river bank. When he takes him back to the colony, he's put in charge of taking care of him. Thomas has inherited his home from family, it's in the middle of nowhere in a forest. It was nice, and not too far from his home is a nice river he can explore. Of course it can't be so simple though, since Thomas is in debt and could very well lose the home. Not wanting to lose a home that had been in his family for so long, he struggles to find some way to pay it off. [multishippers, get your asses in here. this one's for you 💖] Roman Trente has a few things. A roommate that he's gotten fond of. Well, as fond as you can be of a short, emo nightmare. Fond nonetheless. They're as close as he'd like them to be. Which is very, very close. A job, where he gets to see that one cute coworker every day, and they can trade snarky comments about whatever sparks their interest that day. Nothing like handing someone a hot coffee while a hot guy whispers hot takes in your ear. A secret, double life, fighting the supervillain Illusion. Who, it just so happens, has the most adorable smile and laugh and eyes and - superheroes were not supposed to be attracted to the very people trying to hurt their city, right? Nor were they supposed to help them defend it against an even worse, more deadly one. Roman Trente has, in summary, the perfect life. Too bad soulmates are a thing. ~ a few things: 1) read the a/n! 2) this is not just 'who gets the guy' there's a story here as well. also starting with chapter 14 there's some 'glitches' in the text! those are purposeful. i did hide some code in there (not much most of it is number spam) so study those if you want!! scroll past them too and you won't miss much, they're basically an easter egg :) that's all! thanks for your interest yall :)))

Patton lives in a world where the first words your soulmate says to you is written on your skin. The permentant presence of the words 'You're in my seat' on his thigh had yet to disappear until his soulmate utters them one day. Deep down he dreaded that day. You see, Patton had no interest in a romantic relationship which was abnormal in a world ruled by the soulmate system. Virgil hated the soulmate system. He hated it because it gave him the words 'well aren't you a ray of sunshine' printed boldly on his forehead. Luckily for him, foundation was his best friend (and his only friend, for that matter). He never showed it, but he longed for the day his soulmate would sweep the aggravating statement off his forehead and him off his feet. Logan, to put it simply, was married to his work. A love interest didn't interest him in the slightest. The only heed he took that the soulmate system existed was the thinly printed 'what did you say?' on his left palm. He heard that statement a lot but the mild annoyance on his hand was yet to disappear. Roman lived up to his name as a big romantic. In his eyes, the soulmate system was the best thing to happen to him, so the fact that the words written on his collarbone were 'go away' really burst his bubble. The thought of spending his life with his 'other half' was enthralling to him, but the fact his dad expected him to settle down with a nice girl was terrifying.
