Wren has lived her whole life confined to the bunkers. It's not a terrible life--meals not contaminated, dry beds to sleep on, and a nice view of the ocean floor, because that's where society has fallen to.
It's the 31st century, and the majority of humanity has taken to the skies. The remainder gasps in horror as the Tenent plague washes over Earth, and millions are killed in the epidemic. Searching for refuge, the surviving population retreats to the ocean bunkers hoping for a better start. Civilians are kept proper and in-check, something Wren has issues with. She longs to experience the living that she never remembered when on the surface, and yearns to discover the countless galaxies and infinite civilizations scattered through the universe, but the only way there is up.
She gets her chance, though, when the plague spreads throughout the bunkers and she escapes to the surface. She discovers the stars and a way of life unknown to her, but also the secrets of the Tenent plague that make this a story of adventure and thrills.
