The year is 1899, and siblings Kate, Michael, and Emma have just been thrown out of their latest orphanage by the cruel Mrs. Crumley. The trio haven't seen their parents in over ten years, despite promises of reuniting, and have been left alone in an unforgiving world, not least because they are magic users in a time when hatred towards their kind is on the rise.

In search of safety - and, perhaps, help finding their lost family - the three make their way to New York, a place with a strong magical population. It's there they meet the Savages, a gang of fellow magicians, kids who live in an abandoned church and make their living as thieves. The children, their protector, the capable witch Henrietta Burke, and the gang's leader, a fierce young sorcerer named Rafe, welcome the siblings, and within the shelter and camaraderie that they offer, Kate, Michael, and Emma finally find a place to call home.

Yet even as they embrace life within the city that never sleeps, there are still challenges awaiting the siblings, from the enduring mystery of their long ago abandonment, to ever-present social inequities bearing down, to a shadowy, powerful force threatening those the children hold dearest, and the whole world.All Rights Reserved

Daniel is your typical high school football player; he's got the looks, the muscles, talent, and even the overbearing dad who wants him to go pro. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own. At least not anymore. He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in. How will things change for them over the next year? This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order. Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years. Bonus points for giving Daniel a love interest that was more than just a name.
