Claire has an alcoholic gambling father who is buried in debt. When he gambles too far, he is thrown to jail and taken away. Claire is left with no option, but to find a way to settle his debts to free him. She runs to the wealthiest and scariest man in town Lucien Salvatorn, also known as the Beast. He is the owner of several taverns in Great Britain, but a man of mystery. Never around long enough to talk, there are whispers of who he is and what he has done in his past.
Lucien's life is one of tragedy, his father was recently brutally murdered leaving Lucien to the estate of a fortune. Some say that Lucien is the one that murdered his father while others reason that he is cursed to a life of misery.
When beautiful Claire falls upon him fiercely asking to borrow money from him, he settles on her working for him. As Claire unravels more of Lucien's story, she soon discovers that there is a man behind the Beast and wants to know more.
