Short Story written years ago for an Italian "spooky" creative writing contest. Translated to English by me but unedited.
The contest rules were:
- choose from an array of pre-made packages or "prompts": I chose WATER
- each package will have a set of prompts and bonus points:
I got MERMAID as the mysterious creature, a famous quote to elaborate on, and bonus for sad ending, and for using a port as scenery.
I had the honour of last place :D behind much vaid and legit other stories. However I decided to keep this and maybe expand on it in the future.

Timeline of Errors
The story is set two years after our protagonists ran away from the crumbling building. Borderline depressed, empty, and disconnected, Valen ceased all forms of battling due to a newfound fear for violence and took up a corporate job. Unfortunately, that was not all she stood to lose as a mysterious power affected the Pokemon Centres and Pokeballs to enforce permadeaths. It is as it was foretold: the curtains will not close until a hero is no more. A bit of a warning, it's meant to be a rather absurd, edgy story of how bad things just happen, people are just doing whatever, and how people are pushed to be "saviours", but some may also find it sort of depressing. I've been told that I describe my thoughts in an uncomfortably visceral way which I never realised. So, if you feel sick, please stop reading right away. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Pokemon appearing in the story nor the items (Pokeball, Potions, gym badges, etc.) or moveset and some location (Sunnyshore City) as they belong to Gamefreak and Nintendo. However, all of the characters are mine, with inclusion of an invention (The Flying Flower) and a new territory where the story is set.Complete

undergoing 1st round developmental edits!! When Edith, an overworked college student goes no contact with her parents, she must find a way to financially support herself while she gets her degree. She enters a writing competition in which the winner gets a book deal. When she struggles to write the violence in the slasher novel she decided to write, she turns to drastic measures for inspiration. After all, you should write what you know... a/n: hi guys!! this is an (incredibly) rough first draft of what originated as a project in my Creative Writing class. We were given the school year to write an original novella, and this is mine! I've grown really attached to the plot, but at my current writing skill, I don't think I could've properly gotten the point across in the time I was given. I'm publishing it here both to share it with my friends and to hopefully find proofreaders! I would really appreciate it if you could leave suggestions in the comments as they occur, or dm me for longer explanations! "Let me prove to you I am unlike them." Thousands of years ago, there was a faraway land called Oceanum Collis. Many different people lived among each other in peace. Elves, mermaids, werewolves, and humans. After fighting hundreds of wars, the people came to a compromise and started to work together. Realms were united and civilization was born. Oceanum Collis was beautiful and peaceful, but with light comes darkness. The humans felt left out. While the others had magic and great strengths, they were nothing special. A young man, Basil Adelio, found that humans deserved more than to be farmers. But there was more to his plan. He was after the throne, so he could rule all over Oceanum Collis. Together, the magical creatures were able to stop him. The humans left the lands, leaving behind everything they had built. The alliance between the four people was broken. The elves and mermaids tried to rebuild their alliance, but without the werewolves it was impossible. And so the three different people parted, hardly talking to one another ever again. Now, one hundred years later, a new realm has been created. It was separated from the other realms by a large wall. A new leader has risen from the shadows. He believed that the outside world was filled with dangerous things. So, he made sure everyone stayed within the walls of the empire. And those who didn't were never heard of again. As others always looked away, a young man called Orlando, always glanced beyond the wall. One day, he's able to see what's behind the wall for himself instead of hearing stories. Angiela Seafela, a librarian stuck inside a mansion alongside other friends due to an infection. After going through their day, they realized something was wrong. The infection weakened her but it seemed that they could cure it. There is a way! But in order to stop the infection, it required a sacrifice. Something that they held onto very dearly, to now let go and face the finale of this crumbling underwater world. [Note: This is a story I made personally.
