It's 2:37 am and I can hear my mother arriving home as I quietly make my way through the house and prepare for my departure. I am meeting Scout McKenzie at our usual spot, under the bridge that goes over the river. It may seem like an unpractical spot to meet someone, but under that bridge feels like home. I finally trusted Scout enough to take her there last summer. The slamming of my mother's door pulls me away from my thoughts. I check the time again. 2:40 am. As I head towards the door to leave, I notice another door, a new one. I've never seen this door before, and I know this house better than I know myself. I'm debating whether I should open it and go in or just ignore it and go meet Scout. I check the time again. 2:43 am. I don't have to meet Scout for another 17 minutes. I have time, right?

An eerie silence echoed through the house at the end of Yellow Brooke Street, the wind outside slammed toward the wooden walls making a whistle inside the house from the cracked windows; the front door made a thud each time it slammed toward the wall and the screams from the dead gave the house an uneasiness to it. I stood before the house, while my friends were excited to do the exact opposite of what our parents told us to; I was not. I trusted my mother when she told us to never get close to this place. "You guys ready?" Diana said with joy in her voice, I stuttered. "No.." the fear in my voice was obvious, though no one seemed to care. Dan glanced at me and chuckled. "Really? It's just a house." "It's a haunted house." I said nervously. "Maybe we should trust our parents on this, they told us that it isn't safe for a reason." "You wimp." Diana joked, she wasn't serious; it was just to get me with them and of course she knew that it would work. "It's fine if you don't want to Luna." Lucas said, at least he was cool about it. "I-I'm not a wimp!" I stumbled on my words. "Yey!" Diana said happily and rushed toward me with her arms open. "I'll buy you McDonalds after this." I hugged her, even though I wasn't happy. I looked at the time. 12.20am
