This short romance-mystery novel is based on two young adults, Leeighton and Miles.
"One night the two bump into each other at a gas station, both in a hurry. Leeighton is in desperate need of a pregnancy test after her one night stand with some gross jock. Miles is carrying gasoline and a lighter, but Leeighton seems to dismiss it".
Leeighton and Miles are first-year RyeHall Univeristy students. They meet again in their law class and Miles decides to "give it a go" with Leeighton. After months together, they're desperately in love, but was it really love? Leeighton stops by at Miles' apartment an announced and catches red-head Kayla, in his bed. She's heart broken, barley able to breathe. She breaks it off with Miles, since it seems as though their relationship was just a fling.
Weeks pass by, she makes no effort to respond to his messages or to make eye contact with him at school..until, two police officers stop at her front door to let her know that her sister has been missing for months. Leeighton and Macey weren't close, they saw each other every holiday, but after that they moved on with their lives.
"Macey's boss said she quit a few months ago and the landlord said she stopped paying the bills and was soon to be evicted. Nobody has heard from her and naturally they assumed, she packed up and left to a new town, again. We regret to inform you, but we have located your sisters body near a river. We have reason to believe she was burned alive and thrown into the river, until her body washed up onto the shore. We can take you to see her. Your parents have already been informed and they are already at the scene."
Who could have done this? Was she murdered? Did she do this to herself?
Or maybe it was Miles? Did Miles know Macey? Was Macey doing what Miles was doing? Was she involved in the group?
When Chef Margot loses her beloved restaurant to her cheating ex-fiance, her best friend, single dad Nathan, steps in with an unexpected offer to help her start over. As they collaborate, sparks fly-but can they overcome their complicated pasts for a chance at real love?
