There is a town called Evermist, the land of the eternal. Where strings attach someone to their soulmate but can't see it or know who it is. Fire eternal connecting everyone to who they meant to spend their days with, with the ashes guiding them their way. Love here might seem fated, solely because it is. Here lives Ember.

Ember is bad at love. When a regular 15-year-old girl is told she was going to love this person she would meet one day, they would obsess and look. Not ember, for she didn't believe it. When a normal citizen of Evermist is told they already know their soulmate they jump at the chance to see them, but when Ember is given this news she has a different reaction. Feeling like the choice isn't hers anymore she left. Her and her best friend Asher both believe the soulmate thing is for stories and not to be trusted. So when they discover the truth about real love, how will they handle it?
