Kyoko, Tohru's mom, has a younger sister named Momoko. Last time they had a proper talk Tohru was just a year old,and doesn't remember her aunt. Momoko was not really pleased with her sister when she got married and left her with their cruel parents. As a result Momoko did not want anything to do with Tohru, but one day she had a terrible argument with her parents and was terrified. She went to her sister to hide till things cooled of.

Momoko was friends with the "three musketeers" Shigure, Ayame and Hatori. Without anyone knowing, Momoko knew of their family secret.Momoko has been in the military for five years now and had to find out by her sisters land lady that she has been dead for a year. That hurt her more than anything, her brother in laws family never told her.
