Meera's voice cracked. "She loves you, San. And I-"

"I can't hurt her again," Meera whispered. "Not after everything."
"So you'll break your own heart to save hers?"
Tears fell freely now. "Loving you isn't the hard part. Letting myself be loved back is."
San stepped closer. "Then let me. Even if it's messy. Especially if it's complicated."
