hello :)
this is a collection of poems I wrote at probably about 3am or just when I was having a deep moment.
*trigger warning* - toxic/abusive relationships, depression themes.
the title of the collection (The Veil), refers to the veil in life that separates what you see on the outside of a person and what it their truth - what is behind their veil. Sometimes what is behind the veil is shocking and cruel, however we only see matters from one side.
Veils also have a connection with marriage, which can imprison many. The concept of veils can therefore also be seen as something confining for a person and for their soul, which longs to be free.
I wrote these poems to not only tell the untold story of those who are trapped in harmful relationships, but also as a message that what you see on the outside is not always the full truth. we only see a very small part of someone's life, no matter how well we think we know them, and therefore you should not judge people from purely how they present themselves. we need to support people and be kind, because we never know what they are going through.
these poems surround the themes of sadness, loneliness, helplessness and being trapped in a toxic relationship which no one else sees. they describes the toll an abusive relationship takes on your life - helplessness, the unbearable pain and suffering and loosing yourself because you have no genuine connection to the outside world.
it's very deep, but I hope you enjoy and find some meaning in it.
just as a disclaimer, I am not trying to promote any of the feelings I write about. It is just food for thought.
happy reading!
