I had always pictured weddings being joyful and lilac scented. Today though, has left a dizzying sense of abandonment. The sun beats down on my skin, leaving it feeling burned. The wind carries the bitter scent of sea water, causing my stomach to churn. I sit front row in a tragic ceremony, sheer panic rising fast in my chest. The music my mother has picked for this moment begins to play and I know she's standing there. My blond haired mother, in her short white sun dress. She's probably smiling at her new lover with not one thought of my dad. A tear slips down my cheek as I turn to watch her walk towards us. She probably thinks I'm happy. Hell, maybe I should be.
