Marx looked down, his hands shaking as he placed his hands around the pulsing sphere. He could feel each individual stare of the thousands of initiates on him like daggers in his skin. With a shaky breath, he saw as the sphere changed color from a dull, metallic grey to a deep, swirling, crimson red.
Before I could make sense of the color, the Headmaster stood straight, looking me dead in the eyes, sending a dagger into my skin much deeper than the other eyes could even attempt.
