"Why didn't you kill me?"

"A couple reasons. The main one is that you weren't having a typical emotional reaction to witnessing a murder, so I believed you'd be a good... partner of sorts. From the beginning, I knew I would eventually need an ally."

"... You expect me to help you kill the others?"

"No, I expect you to vouch for my innocence. If you don't, and if you tell anyone, I'll kill the little one you brought with you."

~~~~~
After Blue witnesses the imposter committing murder, her life is spared - on the condition that she become his accomplice. To protect her little brother, she takes the deal.
Will Blue's selfishness bring the demise of everyone else on the ship, or will she find a way to end the imposter's reign of terror?
"Congratulations, Miss Duri. You're leading the fifty-fifth voyage to Polus." My initial giddiness wore away under a new and frankly uninvited sense of suspicion. Only an hour ago they were set on selecting anyone but me. What made them change their mind so quickly? "We were wrong about you, Genesis," the woman said. "We now believe you have the potential to do what your unlucky peers could not. However, you should know that there is no room for mistakes." Nareem leaned forward and picked up his chin. On a normal basis, he was about as intimidating as a rabbit. Now, though, he was pretty close to the office cat's level. "Don't mess this up for us, Miss Duri. Otherwise the consequences will be a lot worse than death." --- Genesis has always wanted to lead a mission to the Polus Space Station, orbiting a Jupiter moon millions of miles away. While each attempt to get there has been compromised by the scheming, violent Conclave, Genesis's hopes to become the next captain of the Skeld have not once faltered. When she finally gets the opportunity of a lifetime, Genesis quickly discovers that, despite her caution, all is not what it seems. Her superiors have maintained minimal contact, and she has reason to believe any one of her crewmates could be an imposter. Once the killings begin, she must act quickly to outwit the Conclave before she and all her crewmates are murdered in cold blood. --- **The characters are original, but this story is based off a game called Among Us. The concept of spaceship crewmates being killed by an imposter does not belong to me, but to the game developers (Innersloth). They also came up with the names "Polus" and "Skeld", as well as the layout of the space station most of the story is set in and the tasks crewmates are required to do. ***Content warnings: murder, peril, mentions of blood
"And if I fail?" I asked my handler. "We'll find someone else to replace you. But I don't think you'll fail. I've got several bets that are placed on you winning." I gulped. "Why?" "Everyone loves an underdog. Just don't blow my money. Kill that crew." I swallowed and forced my words out. "Yessir." Without a doubt, 3718's life was miserable. From birth, their entire life was geared towards becoming something to be used for another purpose. They were a part of a game in where they and another Impostor competed to kill off a crew for entertainment. Whoever killed the least amount of crewmates by the end was flatlined. Along with that, there was also the fact that 3718 had to worry about getting ejected and dying that way as well. Try and resist and you got shot. Get caught and you were ejected. Survive and you live with the knowledge that you ruined uncountable lives. In a race against time, against your own, what'll happen when 3718 gets a chance to escape it all?
