Overpowering Friendship is the tale of an eighth grade boy, Jackson Harlem, yearning for the newly realized feeling he has for choir classmate and friend Sonora Davis, to reciprocate his feelings. He works hard to earn her friendship and let the possibility of them becoming more, possible. Although Sonora may move an hour away and she doesn't want to date anyone until she is sixteen for personal and religious beliefs, he strives to keep their friendship strong. Will Jackson be able to keep their friendship for a year until Sonora turns sixteen, or will they not keep in touch with each other as often as he'd hoped? When the time is right, will Jackson be able to express just how much he loves and cares for Sonora, or will she slip through his fingers and into the next man that comes and swoopes her off her feet?
