Our darling protagonist, Drucinnia, has a passion for them. Her family keeps her locked away until they need her Gifts, so she finds different things to focus on, reading any book she can get her hands on. Just until she manages to escape, using that knowledge. Just until she meets up with the pirates she has learned so much about.
This is inspired by a clip from Maris McKay's Women of Kern.
