Over two years have passed since Liz Severide moved to New York City. When she left Chicago with the promise to come back one day, she took a secret with her that would change Jay Halstead's life if he ever found out.

When she hears about Jay's life-threatening injury, Liz returns to Chicago with their son Ryan. Obviously, nothing is the same, and things are bound to get more complicated. Will their love be enough for Liz and Jay to make it through, and to finally be a family?

----

Note: This is the sequel to my Jay Halstead / One Chicago story 'explosion'. Of course, you're free to read this book without having read 'explosion' before, but it will definitely make more sense if you read 'explosion' first...

This is the very first version and as usual, I'll majorly edit the whole book once it's done, so be kind. All rights reserved, have fun reading! I'd love to hear your opinions, so please comment or vote if you like...

Apart from the One Chicago characters / cast, this story is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to other real persons, living or dead, or to other stories is purely coincidental.

What if you wake up one day and all you know is gone? What if you wake up to be someone you thought never existed? My name is Jesse Lee Soffer. Okay, wait. Let's try that again. My name is Jay Halstead. In the world I woke up to today, Jesse Lee Soffer doesn't exist. Our real selves don't exist. One Chicago never existed. What we used to act has turned into reality. There's only one problem: We have no idea what to do. We're not cops. We're not firefighters. We're not doctors. None of us are first responders. We're actors, and we need to figure out a way to deal with this. We need to know the truth. But what if the lines between reality and fiction become blurry? It's hard to tell what to believe when you have to doubt who you even really are. ---- This book is finished, but it will be edited as soon as I get the time. The book starts where Chicago PD Season 7 ends. All rights reserved, have fun reading! I'd love to hear your opinions, so please comment or vote if you like... PLEASE NOTE: Apart from the One Chicago characters and cast, this story is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to other real persons, living or dead, or to other stories is purely coincidental. As I am using actors' names, please note that the storyline is fictitious and based solely on my love for One Chicago. I have never met any of the cast and do not mean to offend anyone or portray anyone in a particular way. Although actors' names are used, the characters are fictitious and do not represent real life One Chicago cast members. The characters in this story are nothing more than exactly that - characters. I fully respect all One Chicago actors and their privacy.

21 parts Complete

It had been almost a decade since Jay had first noticed the drastic and sudden change of attitude coming at him from his niece Olivia, and still to this present day Jay is convinced she doesn't like him, which didn't make sense because for the first three years of Olivia's life she would often choose her uncle Jay over her own parents. Jay just misses being able to share a room with her, to talk to her, and he would do anything to fix what had gone wrong all those years ago - if only he knew what had happened in the first place. So Jay finally says that he's had enough and takes the matters into his hands, on a quest to gain back the strong relationship he and his niece once had. But in order to do that, Jay might need to reveal the one thing he had been keeping a secret all this time, the one thing he swore he would take to the grave. - mostly a Halstead Brothers and Upstead fic, with manstead scattered in quite frequently -
