One firefight gone wrong. That's all it takes for someone's life to fall apart, right in front of them. And it happens to everyone eventually, they don't dodge in time, don't hear the drac sneaking up behind them. But they all find peace with the Witch.
But Fun Ghoul-- he wasn't dead. Not physically, anyways. He was taken. And Party Poison, having the savior complex they do, can't help but try to save them. Which went about as great as you'd expect considering they went alone.
(Kobra Kid, Jet Star and the Girl aren't very relevant because I'm bad at writing characters in)
