Magic is usually all about bending the laws of reality and such, but in this world, magic coexists with science.
You could synthesize water, produce crackles of lightning with electrons, or manually purge the carbon atom in the carbon dioxide molecules in your lungs so you don't need to actually breathe--
You could install free air-conditioning wherever you go, equip yourself with night vision by multiplying photons that come close to your eyes, or float by creating enough upward acceleration to counteract gravity--
OR you could make uranium 235 along with some plutonium 239 to level cities, OR crash the economy by synthesizing precious minerals non-stop, OR create a supercomputer with the wits and wisdom to be able to take over the world--
It should be obvious by now.

With very little to go on-aside from the fact that magic existed here-I decided the smartest approach was to keep a low profile and train like crazy. Survive first. Explore later. My new family seemed pleasantly surprised (and occasionally alarmed) by my dedication to both physical and magical training. And once I started attending school, I made fast friends... then accidentally convinced them to apprentice under my father. The more the merrier, I figured. But hiding my abilities is proving harder than expected, and the more I grow, the more certain people seem unsettled by my existence. Zero Sum
Humanity is not alone in the universe. More specifically Earth is not alone. It is an age of wonder for humanity. For all but a few. Our history has been altered, according to one who has visions of the fractured world that could have been but never was. The way history would have played out without an intergalactic coalition of humans visiting Earth. And he cannot decide whether the advanced human's arrival is really all that it seems. Whether we would have been better off as things are now, or with how his visions tell him things ought to have been. There are multiple worlds colonized by a vast space faring technologically and biologically enhanced human race all across the galaxy. Earth is just one of many of such colonies. At some point in our forgotten past Earth was cut off from our intergalactic neighbors and decides to fend for herself. Later we lose ourselves to infighting and nationalism instead of being true to our nature of being a space dwelling, intergalactic human cooperative. Now our space cousins are reestablishing contact with Earth. Bringing their superpower enabled, technological mastery of science so advanced as to seem supernatural. Eliminating slavery, wars, crime, diseases, climate shifts, and currency, with their arrival. Offering the promise of entry into a thriving united galactic empire. (I am dropping in from time to time updating the story with fresh ideas as they pop into my head this is so very much a first draft I have not even decided on names for some of the characters or different factions of humans that are to be encountered from beyond our solar system)
