Mackenzie can't really remember when it happened but one day her parents didn't love each other anymore. When her dad found a new wife and started a new family together, she felt neglected. She hoped that when her dad moved back home things would be different, finally it wasn't just going to be weekends. But nothing has changed.

To complicate things, Kenzie has to deal with her step sister who's always playing dad's girl. When her step sister is involved it is never good. They never see eye to eye, even when it comes to taking care of their half brother. All Kenzie's dad wants is for everyone to get along, and all Kenzie wants is to feel like she has a whole family again.

There is one good thing that came out of her dad's wedding, Darren. They met at the wedding venue on a coincidence, Darren listened to Kenzie vent when she felt like she had no one. It turns out that wasn't the only coincidence, apparently they lived in the same neighborhood. The two have been best friends ever since along with Kenzie's childhood best friend Stephen.

As things with her family is as complicated as ever, her friendship with Darren turns into something more. They find the love that they have had for each other all along, but never acknowledged. Distracted by her new relationship she thought her family issues were tolerable, until her Step sister spills a secret about Kenzie's long lost brother that she didn't know she had.

Excited to find her new brother, the worst never occurred to Mackenzie - she may or may not be dating her brother. Coincidence?
