I made sure to walk away with a glare on my face to make sure the statement was understood but his words definitely made me doubt myself.

His smirk really made me doubt myself.

Was this dream of mine really foolish ? Did I really just waste my one and only chance to gain a better life? Probably. All I could think of at the moment were the grand things that everybody wanted or what jaime always annoyed me to death with.
