In 1991 a 15 year old, Gwendolyn Wood, tries to find meaning in her life, as she was an orphan and adopted. Her adoptive parents don't treat her nicely and Gwen feels as though she doesn't belong in this world. Gwen by pure accident meets a boy on the streets who claims he comes from a magical world of magicians, witches, and magical creatures and that she is a magician just like he is....
