I'm Emerald. Tristan calls me Em. But you know, I don't think it really matters what he calls me, or the fact that he's been my best friend for as long as I remember. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered because I was going to leave. I was going to leave him... he knew that. I didn't want to leave him of course, I didn't want to hurt him. If I could, I'd stay with him forever. But... my heart is weak. Leaving him isn't a choice, it's my fate. Well, at least that's what I believed.
He didn't understand that I was ready. He couldn't understand that I was ready to die. Tristan's stubborn. He's always been stubborn and always will be. I love him.

I pushed him after that, greatly embarrassed by my actions and his confession. "You're such a manwhore, Aidan. I really hate you and don't you ever show your ugly face to me ever again." "Why are you so cold to me?" Lo asked. She didn't understand it. This should be a blessing to them both. Tristan stopped at the threshold of the door. She could see his muscular form tense, his large hands clenched at his sides. A thick silence followed; it was almost suffocating. Lo felt as if she couldn't breathe. "I'm no colder to you than any other." He spoke without turning back. Lo felt like her heart was being slowly crushed. "But... we are-" Lo fumbled with her words. "Enough. Sometimes I feel as if I should receive an award for staying strong for so long. When it becomes almost habit to fake a smile everyday and to hardly ever cry no matter how awful I feel is tough. I make it through though. It's life. I feel like crying is a sign of weakness. I guess that's why I hardly ever cry in front of people or even alone for that matter. Only a few people can see the sorrow deep in my eyes. I hide it with laughter and a smile everyday. I'm good at hiding my true feelings and that's not always a good thing. I tend to bottle up my feelings until I burst. I either yell, scream, and fight or I just sit alone and cry for hours. I've only cracked to one person and she is my best friend. Call me nosy but I just really can't help it! Apparently my best friend, a member of the basketball team, suddenly quits just to take care of her neighbor! I thought it was because of Cherry so it's not much an issue. She then shows up at school after a whole week with a guy on a wheelchair. She refuses to talk to her usual friends and even to me! I tried finding out why and it turns out that her neighbor lost a leg and his father's life in a bus accident and my bff believes that it was all her fault. Stupid of her, isn't it? No matter what I do or say she still believes that she was the one at fault. Being her friend, her BEST friend, I just accepted her beliefs and tried to befriend her neighbor. The only reason I am still holding on is for my family. But he hurts me, bullies me, breaks me in ways I can't even describe. He has become the worst nightmare, and I can't wake up from it.
