College junior Faith Sommers is all about processes--a series of steps followed (sometimes often repeated) in order to yield a certain result. As an aspiring astronaut, the founder of her own tech company, and a full-time engineering student, procedures are absolutely crucial for success. And it works for just about everything she sets her mind to--except for anything related to relationships and love, the subjects in which she has failed twice already. But that was before the term "meet-cute" took one too many turns when she encountered fellow third year Aidan Lim--by chance, through mutual friends, and to her dismay--by teamwork. The idea of building, assembling, and operating a robot together for the annual Wayfinder Tech Competition provides the perfect final design for sparks to fly after Aidan proposes a fake dating plan to combat Faith's skepticism about love. ----------------- CONTENT WARNING This book mentions or refers to the following heavy topics: flashback memories of recovering from an abusive relationship, slight description of sexual harassment (unwanted touching), discussions of mental health topics (anxiety, eating disorder recovery), racism & sexism, sexual content (fade to black), death (off-page & threats), and an unintentional queer outing by the main character's father. ----------------- Word Count: 72,000 words Character Art © 2021 by Evie Etherington Cover Design © 2021 by M.R. Alex Thompson was due to marry her high school sweet heart Eric Ramirez. Period. That's it. It's about as exciting as her life ever got really. She had a job, a good job but an unconscious reality was that she was bored. She had her back blown out once every three months, if that, and an overbearing mother who made her life hell. *enter Mitch* Eve 'Mitch' Mitchell. An outgoing, strong minded, independent, raging homosexual, lover to all, charming British soul. They meet by accident after a tough day at the office for Alex. A mistaken identity was all it took for a tiny little kiss. A moment blown all out of proportion for the Christian-bred Miss Thompson and her life turns more miserable than she anticipated for every time she turned around...Mitch was there behind her. Something about Mitch was new and fresh and her soul was just what Alex needed (little did she know). Secrets from the past are brought to the surface. A sad ending to a young lady's life. A realisation that family isn't always blood related. Alcohol isn't a medicine. Violence isn't a key. Hearts were never meant to be broken. Two things to take away: you never know what is going on in someone's head and the most important thing...you never know what happens behind closed doors. A/N just a random story about two people who meet accidentally. Plays with gender norms and very inclusive of LGBTQ (being a member myself). Could be triggering I'm not sure as some identity questions are thrown around. It does include smoking, drinking, some homophobia, profanities, violence and smut. Also anything in brackets with A/N means authors note and that's just me leaving a little comment. Enjoy...
