Based off the characters from A Christmas Carol, the story is in the perspective of Jacob Marley, Scrooge's ex business partner, who is forced to roam the world, weighed down by chains, as a punishment for his life decisions. He wishes he could save Scrooge, and jumps up at the chance when given the opportunity. However, in a time where their love is forbidden, can they keep their love for each other a secret forever?

The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. It will talk about slavery, but from a firm anti-slavery perspective, never glorifying or making excuses for it. Cafi itself is a fictional country and while I absolutely believe they would have had slave trade too (because most places did and I don't want to pretend they didn't), I want the book to include Oliver's fight to abolish slavery in his country. Otherwise, there may be previous mentions of abuse, but it will be extremely mild, nothing graphic, and the chapter itself will pre-warn you.
