At age ten, Carmen's parents decided to sign her up for a prestigious school. However, due to their middle-class status, they had to make a decision for Carmen, before she was of age. She would have to complete an indescribable act for the insurance of her prominent future. 

But what if that act is to kill someone? Will she be able to do it? Or will she throw away her parents' sacrifices and hard work, because she can't? Can she handle the weight being forced on her? What happens if she gets too close?  It's all her decision.

We went into the academy and met with the Head of the Academy, Sir Isaac. He expressed to my mother that because I wouldn't be paying, due to our "status." I'd have to be joint with the school via contract, meaning I would be given randomized tasks once of age, that I would have to complete. Not being able to say no. If I were to drop the contract, I'd forever be in his debt as well as my parent. It was a double-edged sword, but it was all for my benefit [...]

I pulled my attention away from him and looked out the window, thinking how I still I had to kill him. "..." I was only ten and my future had already been decided for me. Tears filled my eyes. He "..." yet I still had to kill him.
