She could usually buy herself some time before being chained to that goddamn chair (you know how your butt will get sore after a long car ride? It was like that but a thousand times worse) again by making small talk. And she was sure she was growing on this guy. 

"Yeah about that. Actually not great. You know that guy I work for? Gonna burn down the city and stuff? You know. Anyways he's dead," Jay explained with surprising lack of emotion as he leaned against the wall and chipped away at his black painted finger nails.
