"You're talking to me now?" I stop cleaning and shift my focus towards him.
He looks at our parents and back to me, keeping his voice low. "Are you mad at me? I can leave you alone?" He returns his focus back to cleaning the table, not letting go of that stoic look.
I'm sure he doesn't want to take me, who wants to be put into awkward situations.
"Do you?" Comes out of my mouth. "Mind?"
My stomach fills with anxiety as it tightens, and maybe a little bit of regret. It's just weird talking to him, I don't know why I get so nervous around him. He takes a little while to reply. My eyes move up to observe him, trying to find an answer within his body language.
Bryan looks up, observes me and says "no", then grabs some dishes and heads to the kitchen.
I stand there.
