Set in 1965 in our modern world, Emma Swan is the daughter of two proud business owners of their own coffee shop, Mary Margaret and David Nolan. Emma always dreamed of attending the Storybrooke Academy for Gifted Students in Maine where she hoped to study to be something that was outside of her parent's expectations. Studious and determined to achieve the highest grades while maintaining a perfect reputation at her new school, Emma was never someone who found friendships and relationships to be enriching and rather more distracting. That started to change when the British Invasion brought in garage band, The Scoundrels, which included their unpredictable and rebellious lead singer, Killian Jones.

Kilian had been though enough pain and trauma in his life to believe things would be different when he moved to America from Ireland. Only music and his band were the only two things that kept him happy while everything else seems to be just a passing phase in his life, including the girls who wanted to be his. He was used to having many girls fall at his feet for even just a flash of his smoldering grin, but he couldn't understand why even after he learned Emma Swan had no interest in him, he found it so attractive that even he couldn't break her concentration. Or could he? As these two keep stumbling into each other while causing mayhem and awkwardness for others around them, could it be possible they might end up being the perfect balance of trouble and discipline?
