Nightmare meets his estranged brother, Dream, under a desolate tree which formerly held the very apples that split them apart.
Little did he know that Dream had planned to take a bite out of the corrupted apple which would transform him into something Nightmare knows all too well.
Nightmare slowly turns back into his passive self, though he desperately searches for a solution to both re-corrupt himself and save Dream from corruption- all whilst balancing his fragile love life.

Break the cycle
The Multiverse for a long time has been an endless loop. Both inside the AUs and in itself. Error and Ink making a truce then breaking it in any possible way. The Dreamtale twins fight until Nightmare dies and Dream sacrifices his soul to plant a new tree of Feelings recreating a cycle. But, among everyone, there is one person who remembers each loop that took place and after a few centuries of trying to figure out what to do, he finally got it. Under the Apple Tree - a Crossmare fanfic
this story is based on a Manta series called 'Under the Oak tree' and is entirely inspired by that, there may be different takes as I will switch some things up, the ship is entirely Crossmare, side ships may be included. Nightmare, a Lord with his own campaign and land, was sealed into a marriage with Cross. found himself entangled in the war his father-in-law X was supposed to fight in, taking the older man's place. He left his spouse for a war that lasted 7 years.
