Somebody Out There

I don't believe in love anymore. It's a cruel illusion-nothing but a beautifully wrapped lie. They say it's magical, that it heals, that it completes you. But all I've seen is how it destroys.

They leave.
They hurt.
They make you hope.

And in the end, they break you.

She made me believe love was real. She showed me what it felt like to be chosen, to be cherished. She taught me how to open my heart, how to give everything.

I let her in.
I gave her all of me.
And just when I thought I was safe, just when I thought this was it-

She left.

No warnings.
No explanations that could ever make it right.
She loved me, she said.

But she still walked away.

So, tell me-

Is that what love is supposed to be?
Is pain part of the package?
Is abandonment the final chapter?

Because if that's love, then I want no part of it.

I refuse to be fooled again. I won't let it in. I won't let it break me again.

I'm done.

Done believing.
Done hoping.
Done loving.

Love had its chance. It came. It conquered. And it left me in ruins.
