Golden Hills is the hot spot for rich people and their children. A golden city right next to the gorgeous west coast. But the gold that surrounds this city is tarnished, filled with lies, secrets, power, and money.

And Cameron just so happens to live in this golden city now. Her past is unknown to the students at Golden Hills High School. All anyone knows was that she showed up in America 4 years ago after leaving her home in Australia. She has a knack for reading people and is almost always one step ahead. She knows how to lie and manipulate. But, there's still so much to discover about her. No one knows her true identity, sometimes not even she knows it. But, she knows who she's supposed to pretend to be. Perhaps she fits in this tarnished city.

On the other hand, Clarke grew up in Golden Hills like almost every American kid with extremely wealthy parents. His father is an international real estate agent and his mother is a chief surgeon. People know his family is ranked as the second richest in the world and so they pretend to be his friend. And he gets it. All he's ever done is pretend. Pretend that having fake friends doesn't bother him. Pretend to be ok with how things ended two years ago. Pretend to be someone he's not. He constantly lies to himself and to those around him.

And this isn't just a love story. It's a story about secrets and lies. It's a story about self-worth and self-love. It's a story about struggle. It's a story about these character's crazy and unpredictable lives. They each have their own flame. Be it internal, external, or both. And, these characters are just trying to figure out how to rekindle the flames of their life.
