After the Occupation of Bajor has ended, Tamir, a Bajoran captive aboard the space station tries to pick up the pieces of his life, but he finds it harder to move on than he anticipated. Especially when THEY come back--and more particularly HIM: Gul Dukat. Tamir gradually loses hope for a normal, happy life as Dukat's shadow continues to loom over him. Some concerned observers try to help, but will it be enough?

It is a well-known test among the staff and even some of the fellow citizens aboard Deep Space Nine. Anybody who wishes to be in a runabout -even if with a senior officer- must take an annual succeeding test of command in the holosuite for it to be recorded in the Starfleet database. When it's Julian's day to take the test he is finding it a lot harder than he remembered the last six times he had done it. In his moment of hopelessness, a helpful Cardassian breaks into his program and decides to encourage the success of the doctor with a little game and a friendly bet. Garak plans to use all his mind tricks to help the young doctor succeed. Garak is more in control of Julian's head than even he is and uses it to win a bet and get some feelings off his chest.
