Akira was a young kunoichi from the Tsuchida clan, a small clan that possessed a kekkei genkai, the Tsuchigan, that could control the minds of others. Due to that, a certain rogue ninja had become obsessed with getting the clan and the kekkei genkai in his hands. Declaring war against the small clan, most of those who possessed the ocular power had died, and eventually, Akira was one of the two left. In hurry for survival, the other clan member took Akira to the nearest village, Konohagakure, where they sought help and protection from the Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Years passed, Akira formed relationships with people inside the village, especially one - a romantic one - with a certain white-haired jonin named Kakashi. Life was great for Akira and her fellow clan member, Yoshihiro, until one night, she goes missing. Only after 6 years, Yoshihiro detects her presence only to find that she has lost all of her memories including those she had with Kakashi.
