"Ang galing mo talaga anak, dahil saiyo gumaling na ang tatay mo at umasenso na tayo," usal ng nanay ko. Pilit akong ngumiti at nanatiling nakatulala at nag-iisip.
"Grabe 'yung buntot ng sirena na 'yun, ang bilis kong gumaling,"dagdag ng tatay ko. Napayuko ako dahil doon at nagsimula nanamang alalahanin lahat ng pinagdaanan namin.
Wala s'yang ibang ginawa kundi tulungan ako pero ito ang ginanti ko sakan'ya. Umasenso kami at tinanghal ako bilang bayani dahil masasama raw ang sirena, kung hindi ko raw s'ya nakita at baka marami na s'yang nabiktima.
Ibang-iba ang pagkakakilala ko sakan'ya kaysa sa sinasabi ng iba.. Umiyak ako ng umiyak, buti nalang at wala na ang aking mga magulang dahil lumabas na sila. Kung maibabalik ko lang, kung sana hindi ako naging selfish. Gusto ko na ulit marinig ang boses n'ya.. Pinairal ko ang pagiging duwag ko.
"Cane.."bulong ko habang umiiyak.
"Mahal na mahal kita, Lum."
