"Oh, you're the girl who caused this mess. You're quite the diliqient".
Luz furrowed her brow at the word.
"I have no idea what the heck that means, but actually, I'm Luz!"
Amity turned away, uninterested.
"Good for you then, Luz".
Luz smiled broadly.
"I know, having a name is AWESOME, especially since it's Spanish, so it has a special meaning, which makes it even more cool...."
Amity could never really... connect with people.
Sure, she was .. friends.. with Boscha and Skara, but there was never a level of.. CONNECTION.
Of understanding, an unspoken bond. They were just her friends her parents picked out, like those cousins you have over and hang out with merely cause your parents tell you to, and there's nothing better to do anyways.
But then she met a girl who LEGITIMATELY.
Never.
Stops.
Talking.
Although, being honest, it's not all that bad.
Luz is weird.
Well, her mamá refers to her as "quirky".
Oh the regrets of showing her mamá modern slang.
Kids in her old school found her to be a complete and total weirdo, and she's aware of that, though she thought the spider breath was pretty accurate and quite educational.
But when her mamá moves them to a whole new country, she feels more weird - correction, 'quirky' - than before. And though she makes two fast friends and meets a really weird lady who likes to dress up her dog, she can't stop thinking about the pretty blonde tan girl in one of her classes, who she HAS to befriend since she reads the best book series of ALL TIME, "The Good Witch Azura".
Even if that same girl sorta wants nothing to do with the Latina.
"..what does your name mean?"
"Oh.. well, Luz means 'light', and Noceda means 'don't go' ... so 'Light don't go'. Pretty cheesy, I know-"
"It's beautiful".
