New Mensah is a city of stone, not a patch of greenery is allowed to grow as enforced by The High Chambers; the government that rules the city, leaving the New Mensah as a gray place to live. Shea Holland is just a nobody, part of the weaker class of society. Only the hope that something better will come along in this dull life keeps her going on. One night Shea is walking home from another dull day at work when she is attacked by a blood-frenzied Omar; a vampiric assassin for the High Chambers councilmen, only to be saved by the slick Desari Dragonseeker. But is the she-devil her saviour, or something more menacing....
