The ground shook. Ren shot his arms out to maintain his balance.

Crimson dust started gently falling from the ceiling. The cages above him groaned, a metallic screeching cutting through the silence. He could smell rust, so thick on the air, he could taste it. 

A blinding light exploded outwards. swallowing up the room, and time itself. Ren could faintly hear his pulse in his ears, as his being was enveloped in cold light. 

When it dissipated, he opened his eyes to find himself in Shibuya Crossing, facing the large billboard in the centre. Around him, his friends stood, all in a similar state of confusion. Static crackled loudly, and Ren felt the sound press in on all sides.

Weeks visiting into a strange dream, a dream of an isolated mansion but what lies beyond that mansion, is a nightmare itself. Those golden eyes could bring fear even to the likes of men and Akira doesn't know why he feels so empty. My Key Item (Joker X Futaba) Persona 5 Royal de Rydernort

After months of getting to know and love Futaba Sakura, knowing that she is the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, it's all ripped away by one man. Takuto Maruki has decided that people cannot be allowed to think for themselves, and that they should never have to feel pain, well, unless you interfere with his plan. After being thoroughly trounced by the Phantom Thieves, Maruki makes one last ditch attempt to break the theives, and kills Futaba. In his blind rage, Akira Kurusu, otherwise known as Joker takes matters into his own hands, and stops the mad God in his tracks. Time reverts to its original self, with Akechi dead and gone and Maruki and Futaba alive and well, and Akira in Juvinile Detention. After being freed from prison, he finds out that something went wrong when the timeline was restored. Futaba knows him not as her lover, but merely as his friend. Now Akira must find a way to cope with this new life in Hometown, while trying to juggle the return of the Metaverse, and Futaba tries to find her way through the complex feelings she has for Joker, but can't quite explain, as well as the dreams that almost feel like memories. Will she push through and recover her memories and her love? Or will she and Akira both fade into the Mementos of what they have lost. I took a couple liberties with events and the Timeline, but overall, I stayed fairly close to the original game's story. This is a passion project that sprung to mind while driving, and now I'm hyperfixated... Welp, time to churn out a book. ENJOY READING IT!! The leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Joker, AKA, Ren Amamiya, is not in a good mood. It's been a year after the events that happened in Persona 5, and trouble has struck. Ren's parents have been arguing, and now they are getting a divorce. To find his own peace, Ren decides to return to Cafe Leblanc in Yongen-Jaya. But things seem to get worse, as he gets in arguments and finally decides to be a shut-in. The Phantom Thieves try to reach out to him, but nothing seems to be able to get to Ren. With a little bit of help, the group of teens manage to access the Metaverse that has reformed once again. And to their surprise, they discover a palace. A palace who the ruler is none other than Ren Amamiya himself. I don't own Persona 5 or any of its characters. Artwork displayed is not mine unless otherwise stated. (In this A.U, the events of Persona 5 Strikers/Scramble never occured. This is because I started writing this before it was even released, and I don't want to go back and rewrite this whole story. Besides, then it would contain spoilers from the sequel, and I don't want problems with that.)

Ren's return from juvenile hall finally gave the Thieves the chance they had to talk about why Mementos still exists, despite Yaldabaoth's fall. When they return to investigate, Ren is acting more and more brash and reckless, and Makoto worries it may have something to do with Arsene and Satanael's odd lack of a 3rd tier evolution. Or they thought it was a lack. When the Reaper ambushes them, it turns out that it was about to meet its match. And it was as dangerous as it was suave. It's name? Raoul. - Vanilla P5, with the 3rd Tier Personas from Royal. Slight canon divergence, because the Metaverse stays around after Yaldabaoth's fall, with mention of other palaces as well, and Joker wields twin knives, not just one. Gameplay divergence because the Reaper is an ACTUAL THREAT (like in Striker's, god the Reaper is tough in Striker's) Shumako, Other changes to the lore, like Haru works with Ren in Leblanc, Sojiro adopted Ren, Persona's can communicate with their User's in the real world, and a few other little tweaks and stuff. Mementos is the Palace for everyone's hearts. Sins, desires and the lust for power, all stems down to the depths that take the form of a high security prison imprisoning Shadow Selves and the will of the masses. Hidden amongst that prison is a cell that confines the most infamous and strongest criminal that even Mementos and reality itself, fears. Joker, whom taken the name Akira, escapes his cell, not knowing what is beyond the chains and jail bars of Mementos. Awoken to the foreign environment of Tokyo, Akira finds himself viewing a reality he has never seen before, a reality beyond red. He meets some interesting humans who somehow have the same power he does. Can he adjust to his new life outside Mementos while also running away from Yaldabaoth who seeks Akira's powers for his own self gain? Akira is stricken with a time limit that values the life of his human allies and himself. - AU: Akira is a shadow that escapes mementos and experiences the "human world".
