The ground shook. Ren shot his arms out to maintain his balance.
Crimson dust started gently falling from the ceiling. The cages above him groaned, a metallic screeching cutting through the silence. He could smell rust, so thick on the air, he could taste it.
A blinding light exploded outwards. swallowing up the room, and time itself. Ren could faintly hear his pulse in his ears, as his being was enveloped in cold light.
When it dissipated, he opened his eyes to find himself in Shibuya Crossing, facing the large billboard in the centre. Around him, his friends stood, all in a similar state of confusion. Static crackled loudly, and Ren felt the sound press in on all sides.
Overhead, the skies cried blood.

After months of getting to know and love Futaba Sakura, knowing that she is the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, it's all ripped away by one man. After being thoroughly trounced by the Phantom Thieves, Maruki makes one last ditch attempt to break the theives, and kills Futaba. In his blind rage, Akira Kurusu, otherwise known as Joker takes matters into his own hands, and stops the mad God in his tracks. Time reverts to its original self, with Akechi dead and gone and Maruki and Futaba alive and well, and Akira in Juvinile Detention. After being freed from prison, he finds out that something went wrong when the timeline was restored. Futaba knows him not as her lover, but merely as his friend. Now Akira must find a way to cope with this new life in Hometown, while trying to juggle the return of the Metaverse, and Futaba tries to find her way through the complex feelings she has for Joker, but can't quite explain, as well as the dreams that almost feel like memories. Will she push through and recover her memories and her love? Or will she and Akira both fade into the Mementos of what they have lost. I took a couple liberties with events and the Timeline, but overall, I stayed fairly close to the original game's story.
