Despite skidding across the waves, Dad and I tried to hunt for the small data card. We were drenched with salt water. The winds almost ripped off our shirts. And the boat kept bouncing at awkward moments.
I saw an SD card and scrambled forward. A splash of water came over the deck and washed it out of sight. I slammed my fist against the rough flooring.
Arnold shouted to us from his position. I only heard him say "wave." Then I felt the height it took us and dropped us. My body left the floor, remaining in midair for a moment, before smacking the floor again. When I opened my eyes, I found the SD card in front of me. This time, I nabbed the tiny chip and kept it tight.
The boat hit another wave. The rocking knocked me to my side. It slid me to the back of the deck and then pushed me forward as the boat landed, bow down. I checked my hands for the chip. They were empty.
