*Warning* Starting from Chapter 38, this story will contain strong language, violence, and events which are inspired by real-life events. This story is also lore-heavy; significant knowledge of Nikke's lore is recommended, although not required to understand. Read at your own discretion. Humanity is decimated. Nikke: the legend of Blade
Humanity is now in disarray, forced to live underground in the Ark after mechanical creatures conquered the surface which were nicknamed Raptures with the hope that one day they will be able to reconquer the surface using the Nikke. But unknown to everyone, an event that will allow a novice commander to take possession of a weapon that embodies an ideal, the hero of Justice.
The Shadows
The world is destroyed, three fouths of the population dead. Most of the people that are left are teenagers, but some greedy, brutal millionaires live. They have their scientists capture the teenagers and genetically modify them, then release them into the treacherous world to fight to the death with deadly creatures and other teens. When Earth had been invaded in an instant, the powers that be selected very few individuals who would one day defend the Earth in the far future and become the Hope of Humanity. Their plan, however, hadn't taken into account a different kind of threat, where the rest of humanity had to fight to survive on their own without these so-called "Hope of Humanity." Instead, the last of humanity created tough fighting machines known as Nikkes, who were the ones who truly became humanity's hope. Since the initial invasion, one of those Hopes has been awakened and brought into the Ark; a surviving underground civilization, where the remaining humans wait for the day they'd reclaim the surface.

Earth. It was the final destination for the citizens of the Ark, 100 years after the nuclear bombs that wiped out human civilisation and swamped the planet with radiation. But the Ark is dying. A fault in the system means that they won't last another three years without running out of oxygen. Sent to the ground, 100 expendable delinquents were to see if it was survivable. It was a suicide mission. A death sentence. But it was found that the ground wasn't consumed by radiation. Rather there was a different threat to those teenagers. A threat that was more ruthless and cunning. One that wanted war... They know that they will have to stick together. That they will be tested by the Earth and the secrets that it hides.
