After your family is killed in Shiganshina, you end up becoming a scout, so that perhaps you can make the most of what is left of your life by doing some good. Accompanied by your older sister, who has some rather bad trauma, you enlist in the army, and are sent to the 104th Regiment. There, you come across a character who sticks out to you for the oddest of reasons; the suicidal bastard, Eren Jaeger.
